WOULD YOU LIKE TO JOIN RØA IL AND START WITH SPORTS?
Are you between 6-19 years old and want to find your way into a sports team, but are not sure how? Oslo Idrettskrets (OIK) in the Norwegian Confederation of Sports (NIF) has established an "Activity Guide" which is an inclusion measure to reduce economic, cultural, and linguistic barriers to participation in sports.
It is a free offer throughout Oslo and we help children and young people between 6-19 years and their family to find a suitable sports offer and present local sports offers, explain how the sport works and answer questions. The guides speak a total of 18 different languages, so they have the opportunity to chat with families in their native language.
The collaboration starts with those who want this offer applying for help from an activity guide. Application form can be found here:
https://www.idrettsforbundet.no/idrettskrets/oslo/inkludering/soke-en-aktivitetsguiden/
The activity guide will contact you within 2 weeks after the application has been sent and work with the family who has applied to find out what they can assist with. Then the activity guide contacts the sports team to come for a trial lesson. Furthermore, the guide follows up on whether the child/adolescent thrived and whether he/she wants to start up. Then the guide helps the family to enroll in the sports team, as well as helps the family establish good communication with the coach and the sports team.
If there are payment requests, the activity guide will help the family find solutions - either by contacting the sports team to hear if there are solutions internally, or if the sports team can, for example help apply for grants from the borough.
